Ulaanbaatar is a city searching for its own face. On its edge, a muralist named Bayaraa fights time alone. Bayaraa lived in Europe for many years and has come back. He has pitched a tent on the roof of an abandoned Soviet-era factory. His only aim is to paint the work of his life on its cracked concrete wall. Every day he climbs down the face of the building and paints. A red balloon floats above him, tied to his conscience and to the memories he left behind.
Sengedorj Janchivdorj is a Mongolian film director. He graduated from the Bers Media and Film College in 1999 with a degree in Film Directing. Since 2000, he has worked as a director in the film and theater industries, directing numerous feature films, including Adam/Oxygen, Bodliin Khulgaich, Larydma, Urgeeleg, Lovers, White Blessing, Life, and The Sales Girl. His films have been selected for and received awards at both Mongolian and international film festivals. His film The Sales Girl (2021) won the Uncaged Award for Best Feature Film at the 2022 New York Asian Film Festival and the Golden Cyclo at the 2023 Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinemas. Since 2018, Sengedorj has served as a board member of the Mongolian Film Industry Association.
