The 16th Ulaanbaatar International Film Festival

The 16th Ulaanbaatar International Film Festival

The 16th Ulaanbaatar International Film Festival (UBIFF) will take place from October 16 to 22, 2024, in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. As one of the country’s most prominent cultural events, UBIFF continues to champion cinematic excellence, international collaboration, and the growth of Mongolian film. The festival is organized by the Arts Council of Mongolia, the Mongolian National Film Council, and Nomadia Pictures, with support from the Ulaanbaatar City Mayor’s Office.
UBIFF 2024 will feature a diverse selection of films from around the world, including award-winning titles from major international festivals such as Cannes, Berlinale, and Venice. The program includes sections for international feature films, documentaries, youth and children’s cinema, and a competitive showcase for emerging Mongolian filmmakers. The opening film will be a world premiere, presented to international producers and festival organizers.
Beyond screenings, UBIFF offers workshops, masterclasses, and networking opportunities for filmmakers, producers, and students. These professional development programs aim to strengthen the local film industry and foster global partnerships. The festival also emphasizes accessibility and audience engagement, with public screenings, Q&A sessions, and outreach events across the city.
UBIFF plays a vital role in promoting cultural exchange and elevating Mongolia’s presence in the global film community. It provides a platform for Mongolian stories to be seen and heard internationally, while also bringing world-class cinema to local audiences. With its dynamic programming and commitment to artistic innovation, the 16th edition of UBIFF promises to be a vibrant celebration of film and creativity.
