Based on the play “Five Fingers of a Hand” by writer Ch. Lodoidamba, the film follows Suren, the eldest daughter, who becomes the head of her family after her mother’s death. It depicts her difficult journey as she struggles to raise her four orphaned younger siblings, growing wiser through hardship and happiness while studying and working to build a better life. In parallel, the film portrays their father Shagdar spending his time with Khorloo and living a comfortable life.

Nyamgavaa_Ichinkhorloo

Nyamgavaa Ichinkhorloo, State Honored Art Figure of Mongolia, a theatre director, filmmaker and screenwriter, was born in 1950 in Tunel soum, Khuvsgul province. From 1969 to 1974, he studied directing at the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS) in Moscow, USSR. From 1974, he worked as a director at the Youth Theatre in Darkhan. From 1985 to 2006, he served as artistic director of the Children and Youth Theatre in Ulaanbaatar. In 1999, he founded a production company, “Nyamgavaa”, and served as its director. He began making films in 1982 and co-directed his feature debut, Five Fingers of a Hand, with B.Baljinnyam. He wrote the screenplays for I Love You (1985), Precious One (1986), and I Love Flying (1987). He also directed the feature films After the Fairytale Ends (1987), Idol (1992), Slaughterhouse (1993), Running Antelope (1993), The Conqueror (1994), Oh My Land (1997), and Ferocious Saint Lord of Gobi (1998).
